Get ready for some Halloween fun, Gledhill Tigers! 👻 Our annual Halloween Parade is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to see our students show off their creative costumes!
Although Halloween falls on the weekend this year, Gledhill’s Halloween Parade will take place on Friday, October 30th, at 1:00 PM. Parents and caregivers are welcome to come and cheer on their little ghouls and goblins!
Weather permitting, we’ll head outdoors for our parade. If Mother Nature has other plans and it rains, we’ll bring the Halloween fun inside and parade through the school hallways instead!
🧙♀️ Costume Creativity with Care
Halloween is a wonderful opportunity for students to express their creativity and imagination. As you help your child prepare their costume, we encourage families to join our educators in having thoughtful conversations about cultural appropriation, stereotypes, and caricatures.
Some costumes can be offensive, inappropriate, or discriminatory toward particular cultures and communities, causing harm to others. Let’s work together to ensure that our Halloween celebrations are fun, inclusive, and respectful of everyone in our Gledhill community.
Here are a few important costume reminders:
- 🎭 Masks: Please use face paint or makeup instead of a costume mask. Masks are not permitted so that students can see clearly and move around safely.
- 🛡️ Costume props: Props that resemble weapons are not permitted under school safety guidelines.
- 💛 Respectful costumes: Help your child choose a costume that celebrates imagination without relying on cultural stereotypes or caricatures.
🍬 A Treat to Remember!
Planning to bring treats to share with your child’s class? Please make arrangements with your child’s homeroom teacher in advance by email.
All treats must be made in nut-free facilities. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
