Wanted – Lead Organizer for Gledhill Skate Day!

SACA is proud and excited to fund a Skate Day for students in grades 1-6 this winter. We supply every student with skates and a helmet for the occasion (if they don’t have their own) and that takes a motivated and organized volunteer team! We are looking for a lead who can pull it all together, with the support of gym teacher extraordinaire Emma Alsop. If you want to find out more, please contact Jessica Schmiedchen at jschmiedchen@rogers.com.

The students have been working hard on their performances and are eager to showcase what they have been doing this term. The students are asked to be in their classrooms at 6:45 pm ready for the show to begin at 7:00 pm. The following classes are performing:

Rm. 5 and 8, Rm. 14 and 17, Rm. 27, Rm. 20, Rm. 22, Rm. 25.

As well, we will have performances by both Junior Choir and Primary Choir and Ukulele Kids. We hope you enjoy the show!

The Kindergarten Holiday Concert will take place on Wednesday, December 11th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm and will feature performances from all classes.

Halloween Parade Pictures

Every October, Gledhill hosts a Halloween Parade. Students and teachers alike can show their wild side to all of their friends and colleagues on this special day. We were fortunate that the rain held off long enough for the parade to be held outside this year. A special thanks to Principal McLachlan, who kindly provided the following pictures of the Halloween parade a couple of weeks ago.

Gledhill’s Annual Book Fair

book fair.gifGledhill’s Library will be hosting the annual Book Fair from November 11th to 15th. The Fair provides an opportunity for students and others to purchase books and other reading-related materials at reasonable prices. The Fair will be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Friday morning, it will be open during Parent/Teacher interviews.

Students will have an opportunity to visit the Fair during class time and parents are welcome to come out after school or on Friday morning. You may also support us by providing your children with money for purchases or by volunteering your time to help in the Fair.

Such support will be appreciated, as the money raised will go towards purchasing more library resources and promoting literacy in our school.

Announcing the Gledhill Running Club! The running club is a way to have the Gledhill community get together and enjoy running. The club is open to both Primary and Junior students.

Primary students and their parents are invited to join our run every Tuesday starting November 5, 2013 at 7:45. Junior students and their parents are invited to join our run every Thursday starting November 7, 2013 also at 7:45. Please meet in the Terry Fox Hall.

Running Club registration forms are going home in this week’s Wednesday file. They are due at the first run or to Mme Scaife in room 17. There are extra registration forms in the school office as well.

The club will run, rain, shine or snow so bring extra clothing and especially extra shoes and socks. All runners are required to run in running shoes. The club will run every week, through fall, winter, spring and the few days of summer. Our route will be in the neighbourhood of Gledhill. Running is an inexpensive activity and a sport that fosters healthy habits so we look forward to seeing many of you out there!

Terry Fox Run Success!
