Updates on Gledhill School Council fundraising efforts

Big Family Fest “Thank yous”

Last Friday we had amazing weather and a fantastic turnout to Gledhill’s Annual Family Fest. Each year the event raises valuable funds for the school council supported programs and initiatives including Drama with Jeff, Scientists in School and Skate Day.

We’d like to say a few important thank yous:

THANK YOU to all the local businesses who contributed to the day including Davidson’s valu-mart who donated all the food for the BBQ, Kevin Smith for donating the loot bag contents, the Fire Station on Woodbine for visiting with their truck and Toronto Water for sending the water truck.

THANK YOU to all the familes who attended the event and supported this important fundraiser.

THANK YOU to Andrea A and her team of parent volunteers who helped set up, man the stations and clean up afterwards.

THANK YOU to everyone who baked and cooked for the food tables.

And finally, a HUGE THANK YOU to Chantal, Marni, Scarlett and Melissa who have worked so hard to organize and run many of our fundraisers over the last few years!

Gledhill Gives Back

One of our Gledhill parents does charity work when she visits the Caribbean Island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines by giving back to less fortunate children. Her family and close friends donate items that she ships over and then hands out to local school children who are in desperate need of every day items. This year she’s trying to reach more children and is looking for donations of school supplies and non- perishable food (see list below). There will be a bin in the office until the last week of school in June in which to drop off your donations . If you are unable drop off items but would like to donate money please send a cheque payable to Gledhill school council. All money collected will be spent on buying items to be sent with donations collected.

List of items:

Brand new school supplies such as,

Coloured pencils

Pencil sharpeners

Construction paper

Sticky notepads

Pencil cases

Lined paper

Blank paper

Non-perishable food items along with every day items such as

Sanitary napkins

Please help us reach as many children as we can. If you have any questions please feel free to email

Dance-a-thon is coming soon!

Gledhill’s Annual Dance-a-thon is this Friday, April 26th, 2019.

All students, JK through Grade 5, will head down to the gym at a scheduled time this Friday and strut their stuff to the music of our own DJ Rhino.

The Dance-a-thon is one of our School Council’s key fundraisers for the year. All
money raised will be used to fund enrichment programs at Gledhill such as: Drama with Jeff, Scientists in the School and Skate Day.

We are hoping that all who can, will help us raise an average of $25 per student
through pledges from family and friends. All students will have the opportunity to participate in the Dance-a-thon regardless of the amount they raise.

Donations can be collected two ways:

1. Donations can be made easily online through “School Cash Online”
Step 1: Log into your child’s account at
Step 2: Click the blue “Make a Donation” button
Step 3: Enter

b) Select “Gledhill Junior Public School” as the Fund Destination
c) Tribute Information should read “Not a tribute Gift”
d) Enter “Dance-a-thon” in the message field
Tax receipts will be issued for online donations of ANY amount

Silent Auction “Thank You”s

On Friday, November 23th 2018,  we held our second annual  DANCE PARTY and SILENT AUCTION fundraiser.  This event was an opportunity for our parents to get out and have a fun night while at the same time doing some important fundraising for our school!

Because of the outpouring of support from individuals, local businesses and organizations, we were able to fund raise almost $5000 for our school programs!

Thank you to everyone who attended the event and supported our school.

Thank you to the fundraising team (Chantal, Marni, Melissa, Scarlett and Alex) and other parent volunteers who helped make the night a success.

Thank you to DJ Rhino for his music.

And, a special thanks to all of our supporters for the generous donations:
