1. There will be a YWOTM (Young Women on the Move) meeting today (Tuesday) in Mrs. Duiker’s room, Room 29. Bring your lunch.

2. There will be a boys leadership meeting in Room 9 today at lunch (Tuesday)

3. Ms Aslinidis’ resourceclasses are cancelled today (Tuesday)

4. Can all 400m runners come to Room 20 after announcements for a brief discussion (Tuesday).

5. There will be a Spirit Squad meeting at afternoon recess in Ms Ahmad’s room. (Wednesday)

6. Family Fitness Night is TONIGHT – see you there!

7. Band class is cancelled today (Wednesday)

8. Congratulations to the Girls soccer team! They made it all the way to finals and came in 2nd! What an amazing group of players!

Bike rally forms due!

Multicultural Potluck – Postponed

The always popular Multicultural Potluck scheduled for this coming May 7th has been postponed due to a conflict with Parks and Recreation programming in the gym. We apologize for this change.

If a date can be re-scheduled, new information will be posted on this blog and a message will be sent out from the school.

1. There will be an Earth Day assembly this afternoon.

2. There is a 400m practice at morning recess today with Mme Woods.

3. Please drop by the Lost and Fond downstairs to claim your items. It is laid out on display and will be collected and donated shortly.

4. Girls soccer team will practice Monday after school.

Daily Announcements – Thursday, April 30th

1. There is an open house TONIGHT at 6:30pm at DA Morrison for transitioning students.

2. Dance-a-thon is here, today is the day! If you still have pledge forms and money bring it in as soon as you can.

3. There will be a mandatory ultimate frisbee practice today at lunch. Eat your lunch and meet on the field at 11:45. All grade 5 and 6 ultimate frisbee members must attend.

4. Next Wednesday is Family Fitness Night! Come out for some fun indoor and outdoor activities.

5. There will be a running long jump practice at 12:10 today. Meet Mrs Duiker there only if you have returned your permission form.

6. The running club meets tomorrow at 7:45

7. Next Wednesday May 6 is the last Math Caribou contest.

8. There is a practice for 400m at morning recess outside the gym doors.

9. There is a Folkfest practice today at lunch at 11:55. It is important to attend.

10. Standing Long Jump practice is at first recess today.

Dance tomorrow, bike next week!

The Dance-a-thon is tomorrow (I know this because my eight year old is trying to bring down her fever with the power of her mind, so she can go to school tomorrow, the “second-most important day of the year, after Halloween”).

In other, also important, news, the bike rally next week is in need of a few good volunteers.  You should have received this info from your class reps, and the letter from the office.  If you can help out, email School Council co-chair, Mark Fowle at mark@tsal.com and sign up for morning or after noon.

1. A friendly reminder to the girls soccer team – there will be a practice today after school from 3:30 – 4:30pm

2. Spirit squad – please come to Ms Ahmad’s room at lunch for a meeting.

3. The sprinters and relay team lists will be posted near the gym office at lunch. Please check to see if your name is on it. The first practice will take place tomorrow at 8am.

1. The last Math Caribou contest is next week Wednesday May 4th. Please practice Skyscraper and read about Plato, the philosopher mathematician.

2. In support of Mental Health week May 3rd to 9th, students in Rooms 15 and 25 invite everyone to raise awareness by helping build a “Bounce Back” battlement and Cheerful chains. The bounce back battlement will be made with empty recyclable cartons decorated with resilience messages and stacked to make a tower. Cheerful chains will be strips of coloured paper that students will be invited to write one thing that they are good at, enjoy, are grateful for, or an act of kindness. We will link the chains together and display near the office. We at Gledhill can stand together to create awareness about the importance of mental wellness. It can make us strong.

3. Junior choir is today in the music room at 11:45. Attendance will be taken. Please arrive on time!

4. Please bring in your dance-a-thon pledge sheets tomorrow!!

5. Standing Long Jump please meet at first recess at the Long Jump pit.

6. Ultimate frisbee team practice 11:50 today on the field.

7. Reminder for Triple Jumpers to meet at the back pits at afternoon recess.

8. Anyone in Grade 2 to 6 interested in practicing or trying out for Running Long Jump please meet Ms Gulley at the sandpit at 12:15 today.
