If you have any old skates or helmets, consider donating them to Gledhill’s Skate Inventory. See Poster below.

Gledhill at the Marlies & Save the Dates!

Hello Gledhill Community!

Your Parent Council has many upcoming events that you and your families will hopefully be excited for! Please see the list of dates at the end of this message. But, first up, many of you would have received an email this morning telling you that an item had been attached to School Cash Online. That item is this year’s Marlies game!

Gledhill students, families and friends are invited to join us at the Marlies Game on Saturday, March 23rd at 4 p.m. against the Hartford Wolf Pack. This year, we have secured a post-game skate for our Gledhill community. Please keep in mind that the post-game skate has a maximum capacity of 125 people. Register early if you want to skate on the Marlies ice! We have included a question on the Google Form about how many people in your party will be skating on the ice.

Date: Saturday, March 23rd
Time: 4 p.m.
Location: Coca-Cola Coliseum, 45 Manitoba Drive
Ticket Price: $33 per ticket

2024 Provincial Budget Consultations now Open

We thought we would send this out as parents might be interested to participate in this upcoming Provincial Budget Consultation Survey (copied below). Based on the last council meeting (and the last meeting we had of the 2022/23 year), parents communicated that they wanted to know about opportunities to advocate on behalf of our kids, schools, and education staff.

The provincial government has launched its 2024 Pre-Budget Consultations. In addition to an online survey, Ontarians can also submit written submissions by January 31, 2024

We invite you to complete the online survey – please see Question 5 that asks, “When you think about your community, what services or resources could use more government support? Please choose the top 3 priorities that you feel are the most important.” One of the options is “Education supports (like before and after school programming, special education and developmental support programs).” We encourage you to list this priority should you wish to support public education.
The Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs will also be conducting public meetings across the province during December 2023 and January 2024. More information on the list of public hearings can be found here: Ontario Public Hearings
