  1. Students and staff this is a reminder of our Remembrance Day assembly today. After morning recess please return to class to get your poppy and wreath before going to the assembly. We would also like to start around 10:30, so please keep that time in mind.
  2. Today is the last day to send in poster and poetry entry forms. Please send all items to room 30.
  3. All singers of “In Flanders Fields” are asked to come to the music room at 9:45 this morning.

Daily Announcements – Thursday, November 10th

  1. Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, you can show your respect by wearing red and black.
  2. Students helping with Remembrance Day assembly, we are meeting at lunch in Room 18.
  3. Chess for after school is meeting in Room 30 because of the book fair.
  4. Our grade 4/5 rugby team played outstanding yesterday in their tournament, showing improved play with each game. We made it to the semi finals and lost in overtime falling just short of the championship! Fantastic sportsmanship and fair play by all! Way to go Gledhill!

Book Fair Still Needs Helpers! – Mornings – Today, Fri, Mon and Tues – sign up below

Each year our librarian organizes a Scholastic Book Fair. It runs November 9th through 15th and gives parents and students a chance to purchase books in support of our school library. The fair will have some during school hours and some after school hours.

Daily Announcements – Wednesday, November 9th

  1. Poster and poem entries are due on Friday. Please send all entries to Room 30.
  2. All students assisting with the Remembrance Day assembly need to bring their lunch and script to the music room at 11:30. This includes the singers.
  3. Singers of “In Flanders Fields” need to go to the music room at morning recess.
  4. Young Women On The Move please come to Ms Ahmad’s room (room 24) at 11:30. Bring your lunch.
  5. November 7-9: Kindness Club visiting classrooms
  6. The Scholastic Book Fair is running November 9th-15th in the library.
  7. Please note that MARLIES ORDERS ARE DUE BY DECEMBER 16th. Get your tickets online at https://gledhillschoolcouncil.ca/marlies/ or use a paper form which was sent home yesterday.

  1. Remembrance Day is only 4 days away. How will you remember?
  2. Uschool ukulele meets Thursday at 11:30. Bring your uk’s and folders please!
  3. Students helping with the Remembrance Day assembly should bring their written part + lunch and go to Room 30 at 11:30.
  4. Students singing In Flanders Fields please bring your lunch and meet at room 30 as well at 11:30. You will also meet at morning recess in the music room.

  1. Mrs. Pace will meet with grades 5 & 6 girls and boys who play ice hockey for a brief meeting in the gym at morning recess.
  2. There is no Remembrance Day practice today.
  3. Happy field trips to Room 28—going to Downsview Park—and Room 26—going to the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair!

Gledhill School Council presents Marlies Day

Come and join us for the third annual Marlies Day at the Ricoh Coliseum.

Saturday, February 4, 2017 3:00 p.m.

This is a family, friend’s and community event. Join the friends and family of Gledhill right after the game as we take over the ice for an hour long skate party.

Or, download and print the permission form and return it with cash or cheque payment to the office.

Again this year, the Gledhill School Choir has been invited to sing the national anthem. Any choir members who are interested in singing please talk with Mrs. Bailey.
Choir MEMBERS ONLY who do wish to take part tickets are available at a discount of $15. (online purchase or download and print)

Transit: Go Transit and the TTC both drop off a short walk to Ricoh Coliseum. They are your best, and most economical option.
Parking is available at a premium price.

  1. Primary choir is today at 11:45. Grades 1, 2, and 3 students need to be on time please! 🙂
  2. The performers for the Remembrance Day song “In flanders fields” must meet Mrs Bailey in the music room at morning recess. Bring your music please.
  3. Attention all library helpers: please meet Ms Kopka in the library today at lunch. Bring your lunch with you. We will eat together and then prepare for the book fair.
  4. November 2nd is the grade 6 rugby tournament.
  5. Thursday, Nov 3rd is Ukulele kids, Chess club, and MakerSpace at lunch
  6. Report cards go home November 16th
