Hello Parent Community!

Please join Gledhill Parents on Saturday, October 28th for a fantastic community builder for Gledhill parents!

Due to an error on the part of the Royal Canadian Legion, we have had to find an alternate venue. We are thrilled to now be hosting this event at The Don on Danforth (15 Chisholm Avenue). All other details that were announced will remain the same. A huge thanks to co-chair, Kristen Grinyer, for so quickly finding alternate space.

There will be a raffle, a 50/50 draw, a prize for best costume, a photo booth and dancing (if you want!)! Costumes are encouraged, but not mandatory. There will be light snacks and a cash bar. Doors open at 8 p.m. This is a 19+ event (ie: NO children). 

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

STEP ONE: Please start by filling out this form. Feel free to bring your friends and Gledhill past-parents!
STEP TWO: Please e-transfer your ticket amount ($15 X number of tickets) to thegledhillguardian@gmail.com.
STEP THREE: Please note that online ticket sales will finish at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 27th.

Coffee & The Terry Fox Walk

Join us on Friday October 13th for coffee in the yard.

We will be on site starting at 8:10am and will be there for your coffee needs during the Terry Fox Walks for those of you who are coming to watch.

Kindie Walk: 9am

Grade 1-5: 10:30am

East Toronto is supplying the coffee and it will be $2 (cash or tap) with proceeds being donated to Gledhills fundraising efforts. See you there!

Pizza Lunches are back!

Gledhill School Council is excited to offer Pizza Lunch days for all students who wish to participate (Kindergarten – Grade 5).  These were a big hit last year and we’re happy to be offering it again! 

Our next Pizza Lunch day is Friday, Oct 27.  Here are the details:

–       Pizza is supplied by Pizza Pizza
–       Your choice of cheese, pepperoni, dairy-free cheese and cheese with gluten-free crust
–       $3 per slice (up to three slices per student may be ordered)
–       Orders are placed through SchoolCash Online (you should have received an email directly from SchoolCash Online so check your junk mail if you cannot find it; alternatively, you can register/sign in here: https://tdsb.schoolcashonline.com)
–       Order Deadline:  Thursday, Oct 19, 2023

Kindly note that pizza orders cannot be changed once they have been placed, and there are no refunds for students who miss their lunch or who are absent on Pizza Lunch day.  Be sure to place your order in advance as pizza will NOT be available for sale on the day of the Pizza Lunch. 

Please continue to send snacks and drinks with your student(s) on these days, as only pizza will be offered for those who have placed an order.

All pizza orders contribute to Gledhill School Council’s fundraising efforts – thank you for supporting Gledhill and our students!

Reminder: Curriculum Night & Council Elections

Tonight, September 27 2023, is Curriculum night

This is an opportunity to meet your kiddos teachers and visit their classrooms.

Hotdogs & Ice cream will go on sale at 5pm through until 7pm.
– If you requested a hotdog/veggie dog, please only get the amount you had requested. 30 extra hot dogs have been ordered for those who didn’t fill out the survey. Once they are gone, they are gone.
– $5 per hotdog, cash only.
– Ice cream prices vary, cash only as well.

Classroom visits start at 5:30 and we will have school wide announcements at 5:50 & 6:10 to ensure you can visit the classroom of siblings.

Nominations for Parent Council are due 4pm on September 29th 2023.
If you are unable to drop off the form in person, please scan and email to Peppi.Kondilis-Minos@tdsb.on.ca. Please consider volunteering for one of these positions, while it is a commitment, it doesn’t take up a lot of time and it provides you with an opportunity to make a difference at your kiddos school. Voting will take place on Oct 2 at 6:30pm in the school library on the second floor. For more information check out our post from last week here.

FYI- PA days

During the school year, TDSB school staff participate in a number of Professional Activity (PA) Days. On these dates, students remain at home and schools are open for staff to engage in professional learning. As per the Ministry of Education’s Policy/Program Memorandum (PPM) 151 , Professional Activity Days Devoted to Provincial Education Priorities: Literacy and Mathematics, Curriculum Implementation, and Student Well-being, School Safety and Violence Prevention. Additional topics identified by the TDSB will also be covered during PA Days. All information and details will be posted to www.tdsb.on.ca/PAdays at least 14 days inadvance of the scheduled PA Day.

School Council Elections 2023/2024

Make a difference in your child’s experience in school this year! Let’s work to make the Gledhill community as strong as possible. No contribution is too small. Learn how you can support, chair or join a committee, or feel free to just listen in. On October 2, we will hold our election of council positions for the 2023/2024 school year and sets the stage for council work for the year ahead. Every parent/guardian of a Gledhill student (including virtual students) has a vote.

We encourage you to consider joining us on the council this year as we work together to build community, overcome obstacles and look for opportunities after a few challenging years.

Coffee & Conversation

Hello Gledhill Community,

The Gledhill Council invites you to join us on Friday September 15th from 8:10am-9:10am for Coffee & Conversation.
We will be set up between the staff parking lot and the newly planted trees.

East Toronto Coffee will be sponsoring our event, coffee will be $2 (cash or tap) and 50% of proceeds will go to Gledhill Fundraising efforts!
