A message from the School Board inviting all parents to join in on a live webcast for parents and guardians taking place Tuesday at 8:00.

Parents/Guardians of TDSB Students,
We are always looking to improve communication with parents across the city. Please join us on Tuesday, May 3 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. as we host our first live webcast for parents/guardians.
We will begin the session with a welcome and update on recent developments at the TDSB. This will be followed by a chance for parents/guardians to ask questions. After the webcast, please participate in a short survey about the webcast format and share your thoughts about topics for future sessions.

  2. There is a soccer practice today at 3:40 pm—all team members must attend.
  3. Just a reminder, there is Folkfest today at lunch.
  4. The grade 3-4 Coding Club meets at lunch in the library.
  5. Attention all 200m runners: Please see Ms. Meecham in Room 5 at morning recess for a brief meeting.

  1. Wishing all of our Gledhill staff and families who celebrate the orthodox calendar, a happy Easter this weekend!
  2. Strings is cancelled today
  3. Yearbook club meets today at lunch
  4. Eco-club meeting is cancelled today.
  5. There is a School Council meeting tonight: PIZZA and CHILDCARE are provided. The meeting starts informally at 6pm and please feel welcome to join later if you can!

The next Gledhill School Council meeting will be held TOMORROW (Thursday April 28, 2016) at 6:00-7:30pm in the School Library (2nd floor).

Note that pizza and babysitting services will be provided.
All parents and guardians are welcome to attend all or part of the meeting.

ROLE OF GOVERNANCE CO-CHAIR – Governance Co-Chair is responsible for planning for and overseeing the Council Elections at the beginning of the school year (usually September) as per the legislative and School Council Bylaw requirements and also overseeing the annual review and updating of the Council bylaws.

  1. Attention all those who tried out for the grade 5 and 6 Gledhill Soccer Team: The final team choices will be posted on Room 11’s door at lunch. Mr Kobus and Mme Sorin would like to sincerely thank all students who attended tryouts. Thank you for your hard work.
  2. A reminder that the soccer team will be having a practice tomorrow and Friday starting at 3:30.
  3. The running club picture is this Friday morning at 7:45am. If your parents run with us, invite them to be in the picture. If you have not come running with us in a while, you too are invited. Show yearbook spirit — come be a part of the Gledhill Running Club!!
  4. Tomorrow is Team and Club PHOTO DAY. Get ready to smile!
  5. Junior Choir picture is today at lunch.
  6. Karate Kids – put your belts and t-shirts in your bag tonight for Karate tomorrow.
  7. From Mlle McPherson and M. Caspi for badminton team members: there will be a very brief meeting in Room 6 today at first recess. See you at 10:05!

Daily Announcements – Friday, April 23rd

announcementHighlights from the morning announcements:

  1. Happy Earth Day Gledhill! Today we can celebrate nature by helping to clean up garbage and also by planting flowers for pollinators, and by keeping our lights off. Teachers – gloves, bags, seeds, and trowels are in the staff room for sharing.
  2. Attn all aspiring grade 5/6 co-ed soccer players: we will be holding our last two tryouts today and Mondayfrom 3:50-5:00 at the outside field, so if you missed a tryout, you still have a great chance at making the team. Take the risk.
  3. Due to scaffolding in the gym – gym will be in the basement or outside depending on the weather.
  4. There is a track and field meeting at lunch today.
  5. Monday is TASAM day! This stands for Tackle Anxiety and Stress through Arts and Mindfulness. There will be activities during the day, and a family event at 6pm at the school, with a showing of the movie Inside Out.

  1. Alligator Pie! One more sleep until many classes will be going to Roy Thompson Hall. Please remember to have a good, filling breakfast, and bring a lunch, as we won’t be back at the school until after 12pm. So excited! From Ms Bailey.
  2. Thank you to everyone who helped make Track and Field day such a success!
  3. Only a couple more choir practices until the Spring Concert (on May 26th). Primary choir is today at 11:45.
  4. Good morning Gledhill! We have been doing an amazing job collecting batteries for the “Dead Battery Coffin” WOW! Because of the chemicals batteries contain, they cannot be safely disposed of in landfill. Recycling them properly like we are doing at Gledhill goes a long way to helping our environment!
  5. Attention all those interested in joining the grade 5/6 co-ed soccer team: we will be holding our second tryout on Wednesday at 3:45-5:00 at the outside field. Please bring your permission form in order to participate. If you need a permission form, or have any questions, please see Mr Kobus in room 11 at recess or after school.
