Updates on Gledhill School Council fundraising efforts

News from the Breakfast Club

Jennifer Scaife, the new Breakfast Club Coordinator, is looking for volunteers and hopes that some of us might be willing and able to do so. The Breakfast Club relies heavily on two components; volunteer participation and financial contributions.

The Breakfast Club’s volunteer participation has been steady, reliable, and hardworking, but the schedule is becoming difficult to fill out, as volunteers’ kids graduate, work schedules change, etc.

We need your help. If you are interested in helping out, or in learning more, the following flyer provides all the information you will need. Please contact JenniferScaife@RoyalLePage.ca for further information or to express an interest.

Trivia Night is TONIGHT! Come on out and have fun!

Trivia Night is Back!

One of our most popular fundraisers/fun-raisers is coming up next Friday February 19th, in the school gym: Trivia with quizmaster Terrance Balazo! $10 gets you in the door, $5 gets you a drink — and all the money goes right to school council programs and events, like Drama with Jeff and Scientists in the Schools (such a worthy cause, you could even have two drinks…).  Bring your friends! You really don’t need to be a trivia whiz to have fun with this (trust me, I’m speaking from experience here…).  Rumour has it there will be a silent auction as well — watch this space for more details.

Oh, and this is a grownups only event (19+).  We look forward to seeing you there!

Please share the poster below on your networks.

Volunteers needed for Movie Night

We are in need of a few extra volunteers for movie night on Friday. The volunteers are needed to help set up (make popcorn, arrange chairs) and then sell popcorn and pizza. The process starts around 5pm and the movie starts at 6:30, doors open at 6pm.
If you’re available, please let Chris know (knobula@hotmail.com) as soon as possible.

Thank you for supporting our great school!

Gledhill Breakfast Club Needs You!

lunchbagThe Gledhill Breakfast Club is a fantastic program that feeds up to 40-50 kids a healthy breakfast each morning in the lunchroom. It is staffed by an amazing Karen Ingham and she needs your help. In order to maintain the Breakfast Club she needs:

  1. Set-up and serve folks – They arrive at 7:30 to set up and serve the hungry and grateful kids.
  2. Clean-up crew – Perfect after drop off start time – people are needed at 8:40 each day to wipe down the tables and man the dishwasher. Usually done by 9:15.
  3. Grocery driver – Once a week, Karen needs someone with a van to drive her to a few local stores to get the week’s groceries.

Even if you are available only once or twice a week, your help will be very much appreciated! Please contact kingham.gledhill@gmail.com  if you are able to donate a bit of your time each week.

Thank you!

Family Fest 2015!

What a great event! The weather was perfect, the food was (as usual) delicious, the games and activities were popular and no bouncy castles flew away!

Thank you to all of the families (students, former students, parents, grandparents, relatives, teachers and staff) that came out to meet up with friends in support of Gledhill. What a great way to end the school year! Special thanks to the masses of volunteers who stepped up to take on a shift at a booth or game. We couldn’t have done it without you! Of course, this event was only possible because a small group of parents who dedicated themselves (and a lot of their time) to organizing Family Fest this year – brainstorming ideas, planning events, contacting vendors, preparing activities, soliciting businesses for prizes and, of course, recruiting amazing volunteers.

It was a rewarding experience, one which we hope you will consider helping out with next school year.

Have a great summer. We look forward to another fantastic year starting in September.
