Events going on at Gledhill

International Potluck and other Upcoming Events

calendar-icon

There have been some questions about the date of the next Potluck at the school. It was originally scheduled to take place tomorrow evening, March 27th but has been moved to May 7th. The calendar sent home by the school has changed the date and all of School Council’s online calendars have the new date.

The best place to stay up to date with upcoming events and important dates at Gledhill is the Calendar page and the Events page of the Gledhill Guardian blog. The School Council Google calendar has dates and events right through to the end of the school year. You can even add it to your own Google calendar!

If there is an event or date you notice we are missing, send us an email at thegledhillguardian@gmail.com and we will add it the calendar.

Skate Day Update

skatesUpdate to the update: Grades 1-6 are invited to Skate Day, not JK or SK classes.  Something for them to look forward to when they are “big kids!”

Are you ready for skate day?  We hope everyone has now received permission slips and details from your teacher about skate day on Tuesday March 24th. If you haven’t please contact your teacher or classroom rep this week for details. Your class will either be skating first thing in the morning or right after lunch on the 24th.

A reminder:

Please send your child with their own skates and helmet if you’ve got them! We have a very limited supply of loaner skates and helmets, which we will bring to the rink on the 24th. If we run out of the right size for your child, they may end up watching from the sidelines. Helmets are required for all children on the ice and recommended for adults too.

Skate Day– Volunteers Needed!

skatesSkate day is coming up on Tuesday, March 24, right after March Break. Hopefully you have received details about times and permission slips from your child’s classroom. If you haven’t already, please consider volunteering! It’s a really fun day out with your kids.

  • We need in-class volunteers to walk with your class, help tie skates and have some fun skate time with your kid(s).
  • We also need a few people with vehicles who can help us transport skates to the arena (8-9AM) and/or back from the arena (2-3PM). Please contact volunteer coordinator Andrea Egan nichols_andrea@hotmail.com if available to lend a hand.

Volunteer Shout Out for Trivia with Terrance – A Parent’s Night Out

We are looking forward to Trivia with Terrence – A Parent’s Night Out! Next Friday, Jan 30 at 7:30pm. To make such a fun night successful, we need a few volunteers. In particular we will need:

3 for set up (arriving btw 6:30-7)
2 for tickets (entry and drink tickets)
2 for bartending
1 for silent auction monitoring and shut down
2 for clean up

All of these require a short time commitment and still leave a chance to partake in the festivities. Please email me if you can help out. Thanks!

Winter Concert Thanks

singing_children

Those who attended the Winter Concert(s) know how hard all of the students and staff worked to make it a memorable evening. A big thank you to Ms Bailey, Mme O’Gorman and pianist Ali Vawser for their commitment to music education at Gledhill. Special mention must be made of the Gledhill staff who worked ‘behind the scenes’. These are the teachers who stayed back in their classrooms with groups of excited students, staffed doors and prepared their classes for the big day. Truly a team effort.

Last, but not least, congratulations to all of the students who worked so hard and made their parents so proud!
