• Gledhill Goes to The Marlies – Tickets will be available in the office, to be picked up by parents or students, as of Tuesday afternoon . Since Friday is a PA Day, all tickets must be picked up before Thursday at 3:30pm. (If you are unable to get to the office during school hours, please contact melissahillier@hotmail.com before 12 noon Thursday to make alternative pick up arrangements.)

Highlights from this morning’s announcements:

Read first: “I would like to acknowledge that this school is situated upon traditional territories. The territories include the Wendat, Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of Scugog, Hiawatha, Alderville First Nation and the Métis Nation. The treaty that was signed for this particular parcel of land is collectively referred to as the Williams Treaties of 1923 and applies to lands east of Woodbine Avenue. I also recognize the enduring presence of Aboriginal peoples on this land.”

1. Primary Choir is today. Attendance will be taken. Please make sure to attend. Only 2 practices left before the Winter Concert!
2. Boys Volleyball practice in the gym at 11:45am.

Have a TUBULAR Tuesday!

Apologies to anyone who tried to pick up their Marlies tickets yesterday afternoon or this morning. This post should have read that the tickets would be available in the school office starting Tuesday afternoon.

Friday is a PA Day, so parents and students must pick up tickets in the office before 3:30pm on Thursday.

If you are unable to pick up your tickets during school hours, please email melissahillier@hotmail.com before 12 noon this Thursday to make alternative ticket pick up arrangements.

Gledhill is headed to The Marlies this Saturday and the tickets you ordered will ready for pick up in the school office as of Tuesday afternoon. Friday is a PA Day, so parents and students must pick up tickets in the office before 3:30pm on Thursday.

Over the last few years, our librarian, Ms Kopka, has been holding a couple of Scholastic book fairs each year. This past week, as the fall book fair was wrapping up, she showed us some of the exciting new additions she was able to purchase with the proceeds of previous book fairs. After each book fair, Scholastic allows schools to receive a combination of credits towards Scholastic Books and cash to use elsewhere. Ms Kopka uses the credits to buy library books and classroom resources housed in the library. And, with the cash, she can buy other things like… ROBOTS! Ms Kopka has purchased 5 pairs of “Dot and Dash” Robots for the library. The students control the Robots using apps on the iPads and the software has activities geared to kids K-6. Ms Kopka has started to use them with her library classes and Maker Space Club to teach kids things like letter recognition, graphing coordinates and coding. A big THANK YOU to all students and parents who purchased books at this year’s fair and also to the parents who were able to do a shift at the cash out table. The fair would not happen without you!

1. The boys’ volleyball team will practice in the gym at 11:45 today.
2. Could all the grade 4, 5 and 6 boys interested in the boys’ basketball team please come to gym 1 at afternoon recess? Thank you.

There will be an opportunity for students to skate on the ice before the game starts. If you wish to participate, please arrive at 12:30 to lace up. The pre-game skate starts at 1pm.

*TICKETS can be picked up in the office the week of November 27th 2017.  If you choose to have your child pick up the tickets, Marlies will not be issuing replacement tickets if tickets are lost.

*TICKETS must be picked up by Wednesday, November 29th at 3:30pm (please note that Friday is PA day). Tickets will not be handed out on game day.

A big shout out to Moberly Natural Foods and their supplier Mike and Mike’s Organics for their contribution to our school office Apple Program this month. Together they donated 100 organic apples. The apples in the office are available for free to all students who are looking for a yummy snack.
