East Toronto Spring Festival & Raffle to Support Gledhill School Yard Redevelopment

On Sunday May 28th from 10am-3pm, East Toronto Coffee will be hosting their Inaugural Spring Family Festival with fun for all!

For the kids, there will be face painting, glitter tattoos and a magician brought to you by Toronto Honda. There will also be artisans, local food vendors and a licensed bar on site. Visit their Facebook Event page for details.

To support the Gledhill Yard Redevelopment Project, East Toronto Coffee will be hosting a raffle with goods and services graciously donated from shops in our neighbourhood. Tickets can be purchased online here with the winners announced in early June.

So grab the family and enjoy some spring time fun in our neighbourhood!

Just a reminder that Pizza Lunch returns on Friday, May 26 for those students who have already ordered – new last minute requests cannot be accommodated as the pizza order has already been placed.

This will be the last pizza lunch of the school year.

Tomorrow, Wednesday May 24, grab an East Toronto Drip Coffee for $2 in the school yard from 8am-9:30am. We will be set up on the main throughway between the school and Cedarvale Ave.

Cash and Tap Payment accepted. All proceeds go to support our yard redevelopment.

GLEDHILL FAMILY FEST IS BACK!

Gledhill families! After too long we are happy to announce that Family Fest is back in full force! This is the annual end-of-school event celebrating another great year. Gather in the school yard for a BBQ, bouncy castles, games, ice cream truck, a bake sale and more! Please mark your calendars for June 15, 3:30-7pm.

Information on purchasing food and bracelets for all-you-can bounce activities will follow, but for now we are recruiting volunteers. If you volunteer for one event this year, make this the one (we need a lot of volunteers)! Below is link to a google Doc with a variety of options for helping make this great event happen. Please sign up for 1-2 slots! While we ask that you advise us if you do have your Police Check complete you do not need to have it to volunteer!

How to Sign Up to Volunteer:
1. Read the job descriptions below to find the task you’d like to volunteer for
2. Please fill out your full name beside the task & time slot(s) you would like in this Google Doc
3. Add (PC) beside your name if you have your confirmed Police Check from the school (this is not required to volunteer)
4. Email thegledhillguardian@gmail.com to ensure we have your email & phone number on file


Volunteer Job Descriptions:

Set Up/Take DownAvailability before and after the event to help with getting the event set up and taken down
Ticket Table:Sell tickets for bounce house, popcorn, etc.
Bounce House:Ensure kiddos have their bracelets, they know and follow the rules and that the house isn’t at max kids
BBQ:Collect tickets, pass out food
Bake Sale:Collect Money and pass out bake goods
Photo Booth:Encourage use and keep area tidy
Popcorn:Make popcorn and put in bags, Collect Tickets, Hand out Popcorn

Kindergarten Orientation
For new Kindergarten kiddos only. Wednesday May 31st from 10:30-11:30 in the yard. *weather permitting*

Spring Concert
Spring Concert on May 25th at 6pm in the gymnasium.
Students are asked to go to their class at 5:45 pm and meet their teacher/ instructor. Students who are performing with their classroom should go to their homeroom, USchool Ukulele to the music room (19) and Junior Choir to room 15.
The following classes/groups will be performing: Room 6, Room 8, Room 24, Room 29, Uschool Ukuleles and Junior Choir (grades 3-5).

NEW THIS SPRING: Instead of raffling off the front row seats, we are asking for audience members to make a donation of $2 each. This money will go towards a future arts presentation at Gledhill for all students to enjoy.

Fundraising Initiatives

East Toronto $2 Coffee
For the month of May, proceeds from all drip coffees sold at East Toronto Coffee will go towards our yard redevelopment. On Wednesdays, we bring the coffee to you in the school yard from 8-9:30am. Cash and Tap payment accepted.

Family Pizza Night
Tuesday May 16th, skip the cooking and order pizza from Dominos. Click here for more information

Spring FUNDrive
Until May 16, you can bring that small household items to be donated to the FUNDrive. Click here to learn more.

Movie Night at School
May 26th will be our final movie night for the year. Doors open at 6, movie starts at 6:30. Movie details to follow later this month.
