Hello Gledhill families!

Here is a list of what’s happening at Gledhill over the next couple of weeks before our holiday break!

Friday December 11th: Festive Fun Day/Spirit Day – Celebrate winter and wear clothing that has sparkles, snowflakes, snowmen, holiday wear!

Friday December 18th- Pyjama Day- Wear your cozy pyjamas to school today. Please leave your stuffies at home this year!

Also… in the spirit of giving, Gledhill Junior Public School is supporting Centre 55 and the Daily Bread Food Bank this holiday season. Due to COVID-19, collection of items is looking different this year.

Centre 55- This year their focus is on gift cards for seniors and teens. Please have your child bring any gift cards to the donation box in the office.

Daily Bread Food Bank- Gledhill is collecting one (1) food item per child this year. Please have your child bring their one non perishable item to the food box in their classroom!

A special thank you to Stephen Watson and the Beach Lions Club for the generous donation of Gledhill’s holiday tree this year.

On behalf of Gledhill School Council, we want to wish all of our in school and virtual families, as well as all the Gledhill staff, a safe, healthy and happy holiday season!

Planning a holiday teacher gift this year?

Please see the following communication from the TDSB re: Holiday Gift Giving recommendations

To support safe gift giving this year, Toronto Public Health makes the following recommendations:
· Consider gift cards as gifts.
· Consider donations to charitable organizations in lieu of gifts.
· When giving a teacher a gift, look for items that can be wiped down or ensure that the gift can be quarantined for 3 days prior to opening it. The teacher is to practice hand hygiene before and after touching the gift.

Hello Parents and Guardians,

As you are aware, due to COVID-19 and the schools closing in March the remaining 4 pizza lunches from the last school year had to be cancelled. With the current changes to school regulations due to the virus, volunteers are not allowed to enter the school and all pizza lunches have been cancelled by TDSB for this school year.

You have the option of getting a refund or donating your balance to the school council. As you know the council is unable to fundraise at this current time, however with the money that was raised last year from the pizza lunches and other events, we as a council have so far bought Brita water filters for every classroom and mats for the wellness room. We would love to continue helping our teachers and school as much as possible.

If you decide that you would like a refund, please email GSCPIZZA@GMAIL.COM  and a refund will be issued to you by cheque. 
If you choose to donate your funds there is no need to email us as we will consider no response as a donation to the council.

Thank you all for supporting the pizza lunch program. We will be back when this is all over! Thank you to all the parents who volunteered at the lunches.
