Gledhill Slo-Pitch players show strength and leadership

Two glorious days! Two fantastic slo-pitch tournaments.
The girls slo-pitch tourney was played at Stan Wadlow park on October 3rd. The girls played three strong games and developed their baseball skills. They represented Gledhill with strength and sportsmanship. A special mention to our pitchers: it’s the most stressful job on a baseball team; thank you Bryanna and Sabine.  Also, a special mention to Robert, batting coach. I truly love the moments when a student shines as a leader. I believe every student is a leader. Find their moment and the wind never blows as cold or the days as dark, because you’ve let them shine!

The boys slo-pitch, at Duke of Connaught school was held in the pouring rain. Dogs and cats have nothing on us!
Our boys were phenomenal. Team captain Robert led his team as a true leader. Remember his name– Blue Jays circa 2020 will be drafting him!
Not to mention ALL the boys knocking the ball so far out of park!  Darius and Dean the Machine! Wow!
I could list every single player and tell you how wonderful and proud of them our Gledhill community is…but I’d need 6 pages!
Our pitchers were the battle of the brothers. I had forgotten that Rory and Lucas’s brothers were my pitchers a couple of years back.
Rory and Lucas kept their cool throughout the entire day. It’s a difficult job to pitch, let alone in the torrents of rain. You boys were the glue that held our games together.

I am so proud of both our boys’ and girls’ teams. It is such a pleasure to coach them!

Come out for out next teams! Grade 5/6 boys volleyball and grade 5/6 girls basketball.

Go Tigers!

Appreciate those teachers!

Today is World Teachers’ Day — a day to show our appreciation for all the hard work that teachers do, day and night, to educate, encourage and inspire our children.  SACA put apples in teachers’ mailboxes on Friday, and we are bringing in treats for them on Monday.  Feel free to add to the goodies in the staffroom yourself!

Terry Fox Run

Hey folks, welcome back to school!  We’re a little slow to get back at it here at the Guardian, but we’re going to keep on top of our homework from now on, honest!

Anyway, click here for the link to the Terry Fox sponsor page so you can sponsor your child for the Terry Fox run this Thursday.  Our online total is already at $885 — let’s make it over a thousand for this continuing worthy cause!
