Daily Announcements – Friday, April 20th

Highlights from this morning’s announcements:

Read first: “I would like to acknowledge that this school is situated upon traditional territories. The territories include the Wendat, Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of Scugog, Hiawatha, Alderville First Nation and the Métis Nation. The treaty that was signed for this particular parcel of land is collectively referred to as the Williams Treaties of 1923 and applies to lands east of Woodbine Avenue. I also recognize the enduring presence of Aboriginal peoples on this land.”

  1. A message from Eco Club: Today is the last day to drop off batteries for proper recycling. This is a great way to help protect our drinking water and soil for growing food… AND it’s just one way to celebrate Earth Day!
  2. All students in grades 4, 5 and 6 interested in trying out for Gledhill’s Ultimate Frisbee teams need to see Mr. Webb today during afternoon recess. Please come to gym 1 for a short meeting where permission forms will be handed out for Monday and Tuesday tryouts. Without a completed permission form students will not be able to attend tryouts. Grade 4/5 students are able to play on our Grade 5 team and Grade 6 students on the Grade 6 co-ed team.

Mr. Currie talked about:

  • Days of Significance
  • Wearing proper gear for the weather
  • Taking care on the field
