Silent Auction Success!

A Huge Success!

Tonight’s Silent Auction was an amazing event. Thanks to all of the parents, staff and community members who came out for an evening of fun, food, drinks and bidding in support of Gledhill Jr. P.S.

Our organizer, Andrea, and the team of volunteers did a tremendous job of ensuring the evening went off without a hitch. Every detail was considered – from decorations and music choices to food & drink and donated auction prizes courtesy of very generous local businesses and organizations. Special thanks to Mrs. Darling for her artistic touches and work with Gledhill students in preparing their auction pieces.

An incredibly co-ordinated effort by all!

Screen Shot 2013-10-27 at 11.32.20 AM

Last Sunday, October 20th, 30 Gledhill students joined thousands of runners in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Students from 15 schools participated in the Marathon Jr., a 5km run that took the young runners through the downtown core of the city. many parents came out to support their children and some of them ran along side the Gledhill students. A big thanks to Mr McLachlan for joining the group for race day and to Mme Scaife for organizing Gledhill’s participation and preparing the athletes.

Grade 4 students were interviewed after the race and asked about their experience. You can listen to their reflections in our podcast here …

Salvation Army Movie Night tomorrow

Just behind Gledhill on Cedarvale Avenue, the Salvation Army church is very active in our community.  In addition to their numerous neighbourhood supports like the food bank and senior drop-ins, they house a very popular after-school program called Kid-Z-Own.

One of Kid-Z-Own’s fundraisers is a monthly movie night in the church — the kids sell tickets and snacks and everyone comes out for a laid-back family fun night.  Tomorrow night’s movie is Brave, and it starts at 7 pm.  Click the link below for more information.  Hope to see you there!
