Save the date! Gledhill’s Silent Auction is back! The big event will take place Friday, November 22, 2013 from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. Live auction begins at 7:30pm. This is one of our major fundraisers for the year and a great night out. The Silent Auction offers incredible bargains, delicious food, fine wine and an opportunity to see the gym transformed by floral genius and Gledhill mom, Rosie Jeffares. As always, we need volunteers to make this event a success. Please contact Andrea, at rourkenassif@sympatico.ca, if you can:If you are able to procure an item for the Auction, please contact Andrea Rourke. A running list of businesses that have been approached can be viewed here. Admission is $2.00 or food bank donation and it is an Adult Only Event (19 yrs or older).

I’m pretty excited about the baskets on offer for the Family Fest Raffle– how to decide? Do I put all my tickets in one basket or hedge my bets? There are amazing choices — classes have really come forward with great prize baskets containing treasures like theatre tickets, basketball camp vouchers, and all kinds of food, books and toys! Check out the list here and share it with your friends and family. Your child should have two raffle books in their knapsacks this week, so load up!

Parents, as you are aware, SACA works hard to raise funds for specialty programs for our children such as Drama with Jeff, Jungle Sport, U Can Do It, Scientists in the School, etc. We’d love to hear from you about these and other potential programs. As the newly elected chair of SACA, I would like to welcome you to the 2012/13 school year at Gledhill. From volunteering with the breakfast club and popping popcorn at movie nights and Family Fest I’ve met many of the students and parents over the last few years. I look forward to meeting more parents at this years SACA fundraisers and events. We hope as many parents as possible will be able to take a little time to volunteer in the classroom, on a field trip or help with an extra curricular event through the year. Volunteers help enrich your children’s school experience and provide learning and social opportunities that would not otherwise exist. If you would like to help but don’t know where to start please feel free to email myself at mark@tsal.com. All of us in SACA look forward to an exiting and enriching school year.
