Silent Auction Items – Can You Help?

Live-AuctionWe have collected many wonderful items for the Gledhill SACA Silent Auction on November 22! If you would like to contribute but need some ideas, perhaps some of these might spark your imagination:

  • Do you, or someone you know, have season tickets to the Leafs?
  • How about tickets for the theatre or the movies?
  • Do you have a favourite restaurant? Ask them for a donation. It’s great advertising for them.
  • Perhaps you can offer a Toronto CityPASS, entrance to our amazing new Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada
  • or a lift up the CN Tower…
  • If you love to shovel or have a snow blower, perhaps offer a gift certificate for snow removal.
  • Host a party.
  • If you love to house paint, offer to paint a room.
  • Cook a dinner, maybe vegetarian?
  • Dog walking
  • Interior design? Offer a couple of hours of design advice.
  • Do you have a cool job? How about bringing someone to your work?
  • Are you artistic? Offer to draw a caricature or donate a work of art.
  • If you have a cottage, how about providing a weekend away?
  • If you’re handy, could you offer a couple of hours of handyman services?
  • Can you teach self-defense, cake decorating, scrapbooking?
  • How about guitar or piano lessons, web design? Or photography?
  • If you are a knitter, maybe you can offer up something to keep us warm in the cold months ahead.

Should you require a letter of introduction from Gledhill about the auction, please contact me and I will provide that to you. ( rourkenassif@sympatico.ca ).

Thank you and see you at the Auction!

Silent Auction!

auctionSave the date! Gledhill’s Silent Auction is back! The big event will take place Friday, November 22, 2013 from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. Live auction begins at 7:30pm. This is one of our major fundraisers for the year and a great night out. The Silent Auction offers incredible bargains, delicious food, fine wine and an opportunity to see the gym transformed by floral genius and Gledhill mom, Rosie Jeffares. As always, we need volunteers to make this event a success. Please contact Andrea, at rourkenassif@sympatico.ca, if you can:
  •  Donate goods or services for the auction.
  •  Cook or bake something tasty to contribute to the evening’s finger food.
  •  Work a shift on the night of the auction (set-up, bar, kitchen, cash, clean-up, etc.)

If you are able to procure an item for the Auction, please contact Andrea Rourke. A running list of businesses that have been approached can be viewed here. Admission is $2.00 or food bank donation and it is an Adult Only Event (19 yrs or older).

Looking forward to seeing many of you there!

Raffle Basket Bonanza at Family Fest 2013

Orange admission tickets fully isolated on white (with path).I’m pretty excited about the baskets on offer for the Family Fest Raffle– how to decide?  Do I put all my tickets in one basket or hedge my bets?  There are amazing choices — classes have really come forward with great prize baskets containing treasures like theatre tickets, basketball camp vouchers, and all kinds of food, books and toys!  Check out the list here and share it with your friends and family.  Your child should have two raffle books in their knapsacks this week, so load up!

Tell us what you think!

Parents, as you are aware, SACA works hard to raise funds for specialty programs for our children such as Drama with Jeff, Jungle Sport, U Can Do It, Scientists in the School, etc.  We’d love to hear from you about these and other potential programs.  Please email us at thegledhillguardian@gmail.com or drop a note in the Feedback folder on the SACA bulletin board in front of the office. And check out the bulletin board often for updates on our goings-on

A message from the SACA chair, Mark Fowle:

As the newly elected chair of SACA, I would like to welcome you to the 2012/13 school year at Gledhill. From volunteering with the breakfast club and popping popcorn at movie nights and Family Fest I’ve met many of the students and parents over the last few years. I look forward to meeting more parents at this years SACA fundraisers and events. We hope as many parents as possible will be able to take a little time to volunteer in the classroom, on a field trip or help with an extra curricular event through the year. Volunteers help enrich your children’s school experience and provide learning and social opportunities that would not otherwise exist. If you would like to help but don’t know where to start please feel free to email myself at mark@tsal.com. All of us in SACA look forward to an exiting and enriching school year.

Welcome to the Gledhill Public School SACA site!

This is our first post…looking forward to making many more.
