The Breakfast Club’s Kitchen Fundraiser

Screen Shot 2014-06-25 at 7.20.10 PMThe Breakfast Club’s Kitchen Fundraiser is taking place on Saturday, July 12, 2014, 11:00 onward at Sobey’s.

With the help of Sobey’s grocery store, on the south side of Danforth between Gledhill and Main Street, we are hosting a barbecue to raise money to get this Breakfast Club kitchen built! This time it isn’t breakfast food, but hamburgers and hot dogs, as well as pop. Come out and support our efforts to make the Gledhill Breakfast Club the envy of the neighbourhood!

Whether you are going to shop, or are on your way somewhere else, stop in at Sobey’s to support us. We will be in the east parking lot and will be the noisy group with all the kids. Remember, every hot dog, hamburger and pop you buy will move us one step closer to making the kitchen a reality. We are also trying to organize some other entertainment too, so if you have a skill, such as balloon animals, face painting or something else, please let us know. We want to have fun and make sure people will be glad they came by.

If you have any questions, or to volunteer, please contact thegledhillguardian@gmail.com and we will put you in touch with the organizer.

Gledhill’s Annual Family Fest – June 13th

FF14Mark your calendars! Gledhill’s Annual Family Fest is set for Friday, June 13, 3:30 to 6:30 pm, in the schoolyard!

That’s right! Family Fest is fast approaching and organizers have been busy booking a rock climbing wall, bouncy castle, live animal program and many more fun activities for the whole family!

Everyone looks forward to Family Fest every year for great fun, but it’s also an important fundraiser to enable extra curricular programs our kids know and love (like Drama with Jeff, Jungle Sports, and Scientists in the School). But it’s a big event, and we need your support to pull it off.

Here are a few ways you can help:

Volunteer to become a station lead: We need leads to help organize the following activities in advance: Craft Table; Face Painting/Hair Streaking station; Cake Walk; Fun Foods; Prizes; and Raffle.

Volunteer for a shift: Help with set-up, tear down and/or running of activities on event day, such as selling tickets or baked goods, or running a carnival game.

Donate stuff: We’re looking for items that could be used as draw prizes, as well as food for the Bake Sale, Cake Walk and International Foods tables.

To offer your help, please use our online volunteer form at:

URGENT-Two Skate Day Organizers Needed!‏‏

skatesGledhill is organizing a school wide Skate Day! It’s a day when all students who are interested (Grades 1-6) will walk with their class to a local arena and skate with their classmates. It’s a lot of fun and SACA execs have been working hard to secure a date at an arena and organize some loaner skates and helmets for students who need them. What we need now are two enthusiastic parents to coordinate the before day organization and be present on the day of to help things run smoothly.

The date will be in late March. If you’ve wanted to get involved with the school but haven’t had a chance yet this is the perfect chance to make a big difference. The kids and parents who volunteer all have a great day!
