TDSB wants Parent Input on French Programs – May 15 at Birchmount Park CI

French programs are being reviewed board wide and the TDSB is looking for parent and teacher input – Throughout May, there are public forums being held at local schools. For dates, locations and an online survey check out the TDSB site HERE

The closest, upcoming forum is on Tuesday, May 15th from 7-9pm at Birchmount Park CI located at 3663 Danforth Ave.

More detail from the TDSB site:

“With over 90,000 students in Core French and another 28,000 students in French Immersion/Extended French programs come system successes and challenges. We are proud of the Board’s successes in retention rate, inclusion of students with special education needs as well as accessibility and transportation. At the same time, challenges include multiple entry points, equity of access, and transportation.

As part of the Director’s Response to the Enhanced Equity Task Force Report, a review of all French Programs will begin in Spring 2018. In collaboration with the TDSB Research Department, this review will focus on the current status of all French Programs, including the structure, content of the teaching and learning, and policies and procedures related to French. We look forward to receiving feedback about the successes and challenges of the various French Programs through face-to-face consultation with parents/guardians, Trustees, staff, students and community members and an online survey.”

Time to Boogie! – Gledhill’s Annual Dance-a-thon is Next Friday, May 11th

It’s time for Gledhill students to put on their dancing shoes. The one and only Gledhill Dance-a-thon is coming soon. On Friday, May 11th all students, JK through Grade 6, will join their classmates and head down to the gym at a scheduled time during the school day and discover that it has been transformed! They will dance their heart out to raise money for our school. Amazing music will once again be brought to you by DJ Rhino.

The Dance-a-thon is one of our School Council’s key fundraisers for the year. All money raised will be used to fund enrichment programs at Gledhill such as: Drama with Jeff, Scientists in the School and Skate Day.

We are hoping that all who can, will help us raise an average of $25 per student through pledges from family and friends. All students will have the opportunity to participate in the Dance-a-thon regardless of the amount they raise.

Donations can be collected two ways:

  1. QUICK & EASY METHOD – Online at www.sagoto.com/gsc/dance
  2. Using a Pledge Form (showing up soon in a backpack near you – or print one HERE) and then return it with all cash and cheques to the classroom teacher by Friday, May 11th.

Feel free to share the online donation link with family and friends so they can sponsor your child easily!

*As per TDSB policy, tax receipts will be issued for individual donations of $25 or more (cash, cheque or online donation).

If you have any questions regarding Dance-a-thon or you would like to volunteer, please contact thegledhillguardian@gmail.com.
