Highlights from this morning’s announcements:

  1. Tomorrow is Pink Day! Wear pink and bring your change for our Bake Sale. “You are invited to the Great Gledhill Bake Sale on Wednesday, April 12 from 11:00-11:30am. Please wear pink and stand up against bullying. Buy a treat for only 25, 50, 75 cents or a dollar. All proceeds donated to Day of Pink – http://www.dayofpink.org Why Pink Day? The Day of Pink is the International Day Against Bullying and Homophobia. It was started in Nova Scotia when two straight high school students witnessed a gay student wearing a pink shirt being bullied. The two students intervened but wanted to do more to  prevent homophobic bullying. They decided to purchase pink shirts and a few days later got everyone in the school to arrive wearing pink shirts, standing in solidarity. The result was that an entire school took a stand and began working together to prevent homophobic bullying. The message was clear: Anyone can bully, anyone can be victimized by a bully but together we can stop it!”

Did You Know?

Did you know that the decorations at the front entrance of the school are the hard work of one of our parents?

Each season, Gledhill parent, Erin donates her time and creativity and with the help of a small budget from the parent council creates a lovely welcoming design.

Thanks Erin!

Track and Field Day Tomorrow for Grades 1-6

Tomorrow, Monday April 10th, is Track and Field at Gledhill. Students will be going through stations and their performance at each station will determine who makes the team for the Track and Field events coming up at Birchmount High School. Although the meet at Birchmount is only for Junior students (grades 4-5-6), at Gledhill, grades 1 to 6 will participate in tomorrow’s event. The forecast is for a gorgeous sunny day so please make sure that your little one is bundled up in the morning but has enough layers to slowly uncover as the day gets warmer. A hat, extra water, sunscreen if you use it, are all good additions. A Jump for Heart station has been included.
