We Need Your Input!

Priorities for Fundraising and Programs for Next School Year

5065834411_de6f4d3d0d_oWhat programs and activities would you like School Council to support to benefit your child or children? What kind of fundraising should School Council be doing to support these programs?

At the next Gledhill School Council meeting, on Thursday, April 9th, the major topic of  discussion will be fundraising at our school. We are looking for input from all perspectives and would love to hear your ideas. Our goals are to establish a) what fundraising events we want to organize (new ideas welcomed) and b) which programs we want to support with the funds raised from these events.

To help guide our discussion and inform our decisions, please have a look at Some Questions to Consider and the results from a 2014 School Council Supported Activities Survey in slideshow format.

This Thursday’s School Council Meeting agenda can be read here.  Please join us this coming Thursday at 6:30 in Gledhill library to share your insights.

Marlies Day a Huge Success!

marlies

Gledhill School Council presented our first Marlies Day this past Saturday March 28th. We had an amazing turn out selling 213 tickets and raising over $1,000 for Gledhill’s Breakfast Club.

While the final score was 2-1, a great time was had by all as Gledhill cheered on the Marlies as they tried to defeat the Bulldogs.

Gledhill School Council wishes to thank everyone who helped us to make this day a memorable one. We can’t wait to see you even more of you at the game next year.

Whoopa Gledhill-Style!

(Please note that the Dance-A-Thon has been changed to Thursday, April 30th – giving everyone more time to collect pledges!)

Dust offgangnam-style-dance-vector those saddle shoes and glow-in-the-dark bracelets:  as you may have seen in your child’s folder, it’s dance-a-thon time again! The organizers are looking for a few parent volunteers to supervise the fun.
The details: the dance is Thursday, April 30th.  They need 4-5 volunteers per shift (morning or afternoon).  The schedule is made, so you can sign up for the same shift as your child’s class and totally impress their friends with your slick moves!  Or, groove out quietly and observe the fun.  Either way, your presence would be very much appreciated!
If you are able to volunteer, email our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Andrea Egan, at nichols_andrea@hotmail.com.
For other inquiries, you can contact organizer Crystal Hadfield at crystal.hadfield@sympatico.ca.

International Potluck and other Upcoming Events

calendar-icon

There have been some questions about the date of the next Potluck at the school. It was originally scheduled to take place tomorrow evening, March 27th but has been moved to May 7th. The calendar sent home by the school has changed the date and all of School Council’s online calendars have the new date.

The best place to stay up to date with upcoming events and important dates at Gledhill is the Calendar page and the Events page of the Gledhill Guardian blog. The School Council Google calendar has dates and events right through to the end of the school year. You can even add it to your own Google calendar!

If there is an event or date you notice we are missing, send us an email at thegledhillguardian@gmail.com and we will add it the calendar.
