In response to questions from Gledhill parents who wanted to get involved but weren’t sure what opportunities existed, we have updated the blog with a new tab called “Get Involved” (catchy eh?).

The Volunteer Opportunities page summarizes all the things going on at Gledhill, both council and non-council related, that rely on parent involvement. They are organized based on their time commitment so that parents are able to find something that suits their schedule and area of interest.

And, the Police Reference Checks page answers all your FAQs about who needs them and how to get one.

Highlights from this morning’s announcements:


Read first: “I would like to acknowledge that this school is situated upon traditional territories. The territories include the Wendat, Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of Scugog, Hiawatha, Alderville First Nation and the Métis Nation. The treaty that was signed for this particular parcel of land is collectively referred to as the Williams Treaties of 1923 and applies to lands east of Woodbine Avenue. I also recognize the enduring presence of Aboriginal peoples on this land.”

1. From Ms. Kopka: Applications for the yearbook committee are due on Monday. Please drop them off in the library as soon as you are ready.

The next council meeting is Thursday, March 22th 6-7:30pm (note that this is a rescheduled date from the original of March 20th)

Skate Day is next Thursday, March 8th for Grades 1-6 and it needs you! The teachers will be recruiting a couple of parents per class to walk with their classes and tie skates BUT, the parent organizer needs a few people to help transport the skates and helmets to (and from) Ted Reeve Arena and be on deck for skate tying.

Morning shift is 8:15 (ish – even a 8:40 would be helpful) to 11am.

Afternoon shift is 12:45 to 3pm.
