Lunar New Year – Spring Festival (Buddhism/Confucian/Daoist)

This day is a very important day for many people all over the world. This day marks the beginning of a new year for people of Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Mongolian ancestry. Many followers of Buddhism, Confucianism and Daoism also hold these days important for its symbolism of renewal. Governments, businesses and markets use the Gregorian calendar to regulate the days but use the lunisolar calendar to mark cultural and traditional days of significance such as the New Year.

For many in East Asia and South East Asia, the Lunar New Year is associated with spring and regardless of one’s location it is always marked with great community festivities, gathering of families and feasts.
