Spring Cleaning? Don’t forget to deposit your used markers and batteries at Gledhill

Gledhill’s Eco Club have bins set up just inside the school’s main doors to collect your used markers and batteries. Markers will be recycled and batteries will disposed of safely. Thank you ECO TIGERS!

  1. Hi we’re from the Eco-Club!  Yesterday the Eco-Club visited the large and small lunchrooms to see how well Gledhill students are doing in bringing litter-less lunches.  We saw many students with litter-less lunches and they are entered in the draw for prizes.  Keep it up Gledhill, the Eco-Club will be back next week to check for more litter-less lunches.  Thanks!

  1. Cooperative art group for kindergarten to Grade 2 meets today.  Please come directly to Room 8 at 11:30am.  Daycare students and kindergarten students will be picked up by Ms. D’Souza or Mme Easton.  Bring your lunch and outdoor clothes.

International Day of Pink – Wednesday, April 10th

“The Day of Pink is the International Day against Bullying, Discrimination, Homophobia, Transphobia, and Transmisogyny across the world. We invite everyone to celebrate diversity by wearing a pink shirt and by organizing activities in their workplaces, schools and communities.”

Gledhill is celebrating this day in several ways:

  • Students are encouraged to wear PINK this Wednesday, April 10th
  • The Grade 4s and 5 are busy baking and will be selling their treats on Wednesday to students Grade 1 and older. All proceeds from the sale will go to www.dayofpink.org. Items will range in price from $0.25 – $1.00.
  • Grades 4 and 5 students will host “Kindie Buddy chats” with the kindergarten students to talk about friendship and kindness.

Hi, we’re from the Eco-Club!  We were noticing a fair number of reusable containers get left in the playground by kids.  Often they end up broken or put in the garbage.  Students, please make sure that when the recess bell rings to come in, you check to make sure you have everything you brought out with you.  It’s a good idea to put your things in the same place while you’re playing.  Thanks for thinking of the earth!

  4. Eco-Club Message- Have you or your parents done any spring cleaning yet?  It’s a great time to collect your used batteries and drop them off in our school collection bin.  The batteries will be recycled and keep harmful chemicals out of our soil and water.  Thanks for thinking of the planet!

  1. Hi, we are from the EcoClub.  Today we would like to share with you some tips and ideas on minimizing plastic.
    1. Say no to straws- stop using them
    2. When your parents go grocery shopping, remind them to bring their own reusable bags
    3. Bring a reusable water bottle to school
    4. Pack your lunch in reusable containers
    5. Give up gum.  Gum is made of a synthetic rubber, meaning plastic.

Do your part to help the Earth.  Cut the plastic.
