Gledhill’s Annual Dance-a-thon – Friday, April 21

Calling all Gledhill students! Step up, and get Footloose! The one and only Gledhill Dance-a-thon is coming Friday, April 21st. Amazing music will once again be brought to you by DJ Rhino. Sponsor forms have been sent home with each student. If you have lost that sheet you can print one from the link below or pick up a pledge form at the office. Submit your forms and donations to your teacher by Friday. The Dance-a-thon is one of our key fundraisers for the year. All money raised will be use to fund Gledhill School Council sponsored enrichment programs at Gledhill such as: Drama with Jeff, Scientists in the School, and Skate Day. We are hoping that all who can, will help us raise an average of $20 per student through pledges from family and friends. All students will have the opportunity to participate in the Dance-a-thon regardless of the amount they raise. You can also receive a tax receipt from the TDSB. Please see the details on the pledge form.

If you have any questions regarding Dance-a-thon or you would like to volunteer, please contact Crystal Hadfield at crystal.hadfield888@gmail.com Can’t wait to see you on the dance floor!

Highlights from this morning’s announcements:

  1. Tomorrow is Pink Day! Wear pink and bring your change for our Bake Sale. “You are invited to the Great Gledhill Bake Sale on Wednesday, April 12 from 11:00-11:30am. Please wear pink and stand up against bullying. Buy a treat for only 25, 50, 75 cents or a dollar. All proceeds donated to Day of Pink – http://www.dayofpink.org Why Pink Day? The Day of Pink is the International Day Against Bullying and Homophobia. It was started in Nova Scotia when two straight high school students witnessed a gay student wearing a pink shirt being bullied. The two students intervened but wanted to do more to  prevent homophobic bullying. They decided to purchase pink shirts and a few days later got everyone in the school to arrive wearing pink shirts, standing in solidarity. The result was that an entire school took a stand and began working together to prevent homophobic bullying. The message was clear: Anyone can bully, anyone can be victimized by a bully but together we can stop it!”

Did You Know?

Did you know that the decorations at the front entrance of the school are the hard work of one of our parents?

Each season, Gledhill parent, Erin donates her time and creativity and with the help of a small budget from the parent council creates a lovely welcoming design.

Thanks Erin!
