The next Gledhill School Council meeting will be held on Thursday February 25 at 6:00-7:30pm in the School Library (2nd floor).

Please note that pizza and babysitting services will be provided
All parents and guardians are welcome to attend all or part of the meeting

AGENDA
6:00pm to 6:30pm (housekeeping items)

  • Approval of December meeting minutes (5 minutes) (available here)
  • Chair Updates – Parent Engagement, Communications, Fundraising, Grants, Healthy Kids, Volunteer, Parent Class Representatives, Ward and School Advocacy, Eco, Governance
    (25 minutes)

    • Status of popcorn machine and projector purchases – FOR DECISION?
    • Family fest update
    • Initiate Council bylaw review

6:30pm to 7:30pm (main agenda items)

  • Formal welcome and introductions (5 minutes)
  • Presentation on the TDSB Virtual Library – Ms. Szklanny (25 minutes)
  • Principal’s update (10 minutes)
  • Summary of Council financial status (5 minutes)
  • Process to provide annual $100 to teachers – FOR DECISION? (5 minutes)
  • Progress towards Council goals (5 minutes)
    • Discuss programs that Council should support next year

  1. Junior choir continues for Term 2 tomorrow at 11:45 in the music room.
  2. Teachers—fruit has arrived. Please send down your basket with some students so they can be filled.
  3. Welcome back, Ms. Pierce!
  4. The coding club meets in the library at lunch. We’ll eat our lunch together.
  5. There is a Folkfest practice today at 11:55. A teacher will come to pick you up.

  1. Ms Aslanidis’ resource classes are cancelled until further notice.
  2. Forest of reading meets in the library at 11:45. go to lunch first and someone will get you from there.
  3. This is a reminder that snow stays on the ground. Do not throw snow at anyone – this is for everyone’s safety.
  4. We need some grade 6 volunteers to read the announcements!

We hope you are planning to attend the Trivia Night and Silent Auction event this Friday February 19 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Last year’s event was a lot of fun and we’re hoping that this year is even better. We have collected many great items for the silent auction including …

Please donate!  We have been very fortunate to receive many donations from parents already and we truly appreciate the generosity of our parent community. We ask if you have already offered a donation that you bring the item to the school’s office by Thurs. Feb. 18. Volunteers needed for Trivia/Auction Night

This coming Friday, February 19th, Gledhill School Council is hosting our third annual Parents Night Out. This ever popular evening of Trivia combined with a Silent Auction will be an adults only event – yes, it will be licensed!

We are still in need of a few volunteers for the event. If you are willing and able to dedicate some of your evening, we need volunteers for the following …

  • 2 volunteers to help sell tickets at the door and to help clear tables, etc.
  • 2 volunteers to help with table and chair clean up at the end of the evening (10:00-ish)

Trivia Night is Back!

One of our most popular fundraisers/fun-raisers is coming up next Friday February 19th, in the school gym: Trivia with quizmaster Terrance Balazo! $10 gets you in the door, $5 gets you a drink — and all the money goes right to school council programs and events, like Drama with Jeff and Scientists in the Schools (such a worthy cause, you could even have two drinks…).  Bring your friends! You really don’t need to be a trivia whiz to have fun with this (trust me, I’m speaking from experience here…).  Rumour has it there will be a silent auction as well — watch this space for more details.

Oh, and this is a grownups only event (19+).  We look forward to seeing you there!
