Highlights from this morning’s announcements:

Read first: “I would like to acknowledge that this school is situated upon traditional territories. The territories include the Wendat, Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of Scugog, Hiawatha, Alderville First Nation and the Métis Nation. The treaty that was signed for this particular parcel of land is collectively referred to as the Williams Treaties of 1923 and applies to lands east of Woodbine Avenue. I also recognize the enduring presence of Aboriginal peoples on this land.”

  1. Good luck to all the track and field team members today at Birchmount. Top 3 in each event move on to South Finals on June 7th.
  2. Our Jump Rope for Heart fundraising goal $3900. Every donation helps us reach our goal to help more hearts.
  3. All members of the girls Slo-Pitch team are asked to meet Mr. Webb in the gym tomorrow morning at 7:45 ready to go to your tournament.
  4. Eco-Club will meet tomorrow outside Rm 6 for our regular meeting.
  5. Mrs. Pace’s gym classes are cancelled. Best of luck to all Track & Field participants!
  6. Boys Slo-Pitch team please meet Mrs. Pace Thursday at recess

Safety Meeting – Your Child’s Walk to School

A local parent has organized the meeting outlined below to gather feedback from parents about their children’s daily walk to school and what can be done to make it safer. If you cannot attend the meeting you can email your feedback to the council at thegledhillguardian@gmail.com. The Gledhill Council will be gathering all suggestions and emailing it Phil in advance of the meeting.

  1. Final Junior Choir rehearsal is today at 11:45.
  2. Track & Field practice will be cancelled at recess if it is raining.
  3. No Slo-Pitch practice tomorrow due to Track and Field.
  4. Very important Track and Field meeting this morning at 9am in the gym to discuss tomorrow’s Track and Field meet at Birchmount.
  5. Reminder about our Jump Rope for Heart assembly at 10:30am today.

  1. Track and Field practices today: Triple Jump at AM recess, 400/800/1500m with Mrs Pace at 12:00, Standing Long Jump with Mrs. Pace at PM recess and Relay at 3:30 with  Mr Webb.
  2. Slo-Pitch tomorrow at 7:45 AM with Mrs Pace and Mr. Webb.
  3. Congratulations to “E” in Rm 14 and “E” in Rm 22 who knew that Antonio Vivaldi’s  “Four Seasons” is performed by violins. Please see Mrs. Bailey for your prize. The new question is now posted in the music room and will be up for two weeks.

Dance-a-thon was a success!

A HUGE thank you to Gledhill Dad, DJ Rhino, for donating his time, his lights and his tunes for our kids today. We saw some amazing moves on the dance floor!

Thank you also to our parent volunteers and our dedicated team of parent organizers.

If you still have last minute donations that didn’t make it in to the school today –  don’t worry! They can be brought in on Monday.

  1. Congratulations to the Junior Choir who did a phenomenal job last night performing at Massey Hall! We were very proud of your performance and representing Gledhill so positively.
  2. Spirit Squad: there’s a meeting Monday at 11:30 in room 24.
  3. A reminder to 80 and 200m runners of our practice at morning recess.
  4. Shot putters: we will meet outside the gym office at afternoon recess for our practice.

It’s Dance-a-thon day!

All proceeds from the Dance-a-thon go toward Gledhill School Council programs and initiatives such as Scientists in School, Drama with Jeff and Skate Day.
