Lug-a-Mug Photo Share Contest

Attention Gledhill Parents and Guardians: A selfie of you drinking your morning coffee or tea from your reuse-able mug could be worth a free bag of Mountain View coffee!

Gledhill’s Eco-Club wants to show our kids that we parents are “walking the walk” and using reusable mugs everyday. It’s as easy as emailing your photo to the Eco Club. See details in this flyer:

  1. Teachers, please send any paper to be recycled down to the basement recycling bins today.
  2. Message from Eco Club: Our final hot chocolate winner is “I” from Rm 24. He has two suggestions—#1: donate food to people who need it and #2: compost any leftovers in the in the proper green bin. This is an important way to help ensure that recyclables are not contaminated with food waste.
  3. For all staff who contributed to the group gift: if you would like to meet in front of the main office at 11:30 am for a short presentation, that would be great!

Mr. Currie talked about:

  3. There will be carolling today at 1 pm in the gym.
  4. Today is Pajama Day and WOW, there are lots of people wearing awesome chillaxing gear!
  5. Today is also the last day of school in 2017. Have a safe, relaxing holiday, and we’ll return on January 8th!

  3. A message from the Eco Club: Thank you to all the students who have shared an idea for how to “Green” your holiday season. Today’s hot chocolate winner is: “J” from Rm 24. Her idea was: “Don’t wrap gifts, just hide them or reuse paper or a simple ribbon.” Thanks “J” this is a great way to save paper and trees. Your hot chocolate will arrive later this afternoon.   • SPIRIT Day – “Favourite Character Day” The Kindergarteners will participate by BRINGING their favourite book to school for the day. Everyone else in grades 1-6 has the option to dress up as their favourite book/movie character.

  1. A reminder to visit the lost and found! All remaining items left after the end of the day on Monday will be donated to Centre 55. Teachers, if possible please walk your class by this area before the end of the day Monday.
  2. From Ms. Bailey: A huge thank you to all of the staff who made last evening’s Winter Concert run so smoothly! Too all the performers—what a fantastic job last night! Your practice and hard work paid off! It was wonderful.

A message from Mr. Currie:

Amazing job by all students in Kindergarten and Grades 1-6! A big thank-you to our school council reps for setting up our coffee and tea at the Kindergarten concert as well as those helping out with pizza, snacks and water last night. Also a big thanks to Ms. Bailey for all efforts coordinating our 1-6 concert and Mme Willoughby for doing the same for our kindie concert!

Today’s Concert Details

Here’s the scoop on today’s two Winter Concerts:

You are welcome to take photos and videos from your seat. We ask, however, that you please be courteous by remaining in your seat and not standing in the middle aisle. This will allow others to enjoy the concert.
The staff and council also ask parents to please not post photos and videos on social media. We have parents who have not given permission via media forms and students for which online exposure presents a safety issue.

KINDIE CONCERT

The Kindie Concert starts at 2:00pm doors open at 1:45pm. The council will be serving coffee and tea before and during the concert in the hall outside the gym.

*All Kindergarten classes are performing, including the Kindergarten Ukulele group.

GRADES 1-6 CONCERT

The Grades 1-6 concert will start at 6:45pm. Doors open at 6:15.

No time for dinner? The council will be selling Pizza and Treats starting at 5:30pm outside the gym.

  • Please use the Winter Concerts as an opportunity to check the Lost and Found in the school basement hallway for any of your lost items. All unclaimed items will be donated to Community Centre 55 on Monday, December 11.
  • We will also be collecting non-perishable food items at the Winter Concerts. All donations will go to Communty Centre 55.
