Universal Screening Process for Grade 3 Students

Looking for more info on the Universal Screening Process for Grade 3 Students going on at Gledhill this week?

Effective September 2016, the Toronto District School Board introduced a universal screening process for all Grade 3 students across the board. The purpose of this universal screening test is to:

  • Provide information to classroom teachers about the strengths and learning needs of each student in order to better support teachers in programming for students
  • Help teachers to know when to bring a student forward to In School Team (IST) or School Support Team (SST) for programming suggestions
  • Improve equity of access for all students to differentiated programming including the potential identification of students with a gifted exceptionality

There are several useful FAQ and Parent Information documents available on the TDSB site which may contain answers to your questions:

Family Fest 2016

This year’s Family Fest was another fantastic event with lots of families, great weather, excellent food, a 50/50 draw, expanded bouncy castle selection, dance and Tae Kwon Do performances, a photo booth, a barber and, of course, face painting. We even sold over 100 Gledhill water bottles!

Thank you to all of the parents, students, staff and community members that came out to meet up with friends in support of Gledhill. What a great way to end the school year! Special thanks to the masses of volunteers who stepped up to take on a shift at a booth or game. We couldn’t have done it without you! Of course, this event was only possible because a small group of parents who dedicated themselves (and a lot of their time) to organizing Family Fest this year – brainstorming ideas, planning events, contacting vendors, preparing activities, soliciting businesses for prizes and, of course, recruiting amazing volunteers.

It was a rewarding experience, one which we hope you will consider helping out with next school year.

Have a great summer. We look forward to another fantastic year starting in September.
