  1. There is a small stack of dishes and containers just outside the office leftover from food donated to the International and Bake Tables at Family Fest. Please pop by and collect your things.
  2. The Lost and Found in the basement is overflowing with clothing, footwear, lunch gear and water bottles. The school will be closing for renovations at the end of the day Thursday at which point all Lost and Found items will be donated to charity.

  1. The Silent Auction is finally here! Thank you everyone for all your hard work. Students, please bring your parents to the Silent Auction today after school during Family Fest. We will be located between doors 4 and 5 in the courtyard. See you there!
  2. Please bring your yearbook order to the office right after the announcements. Make sure to include a note with your name and room number.
  3. All Ultimate team members are welcome to the gym during morning recess to sign our spirit banner (Mr. Webb).

Friday

  • Last day to order Gledhill Yearbooks -$25 and a note indicating your child’s name and class room must be brought to the office tomorrow morning before noon.
  • Family Fest: 3:30-7pm in the schoolyard.  Please check out our Volunteer Sign Up to see where help is still required and what food is still needed. Thank you to those who have already indicated how they can help out.
  • Avoid Line Ups! Family Fest wristbands and tickets will be sold in the schoolyard at morning drop off starting at 8:00am. Wristbands are $30 and cover “all you can bounce” in the 6 inflatables and includes skateboarding activities. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased for individual turns on inflatables.

  1. Huge congrats to our Grade 4/5/6 Ultimate Frisbee team. News just came that we have won the spirit award for the South Conference! This is a special honour given to the team that shows the best sportsmanship and fair play. It is given to us by all our opponents. Great job everyone!
  2. Eco Club will have it’s meeting for this schoolyear today at 11:30am.
  3. Graduating students: Please send all complete paddles to Rm 30 by lunch today.
  4. An announcement from the clothing swap organizers: This year, at Family Fest, in the spirit of sharing, kindness, reducing and reusing, Mrs Chitayat’s class is organizing a huge clothing swap! Families are encouraged to bring in gently used clothing. At Family Fest, all families are invited to then take home what their family can use. No money will be exchanged at this  event.

Gledhill Yearbooks – Last chance to order is tomorrow morning

The office will be placing a last minute, second order tomorrow morning (Friday, June 22) of Gledhill Yearbooks. If you missed out on the original deadline and would like to order a yearbook, please have your child bring $25 to the office by tomorrow morning with a note indicating their name and classroom. (Note: Yearbooks can no longer be ordered through the School Cash Online system)

Last Minute Family Fest Tips

Family Fest is tomorrow! The organizers have been working hard and are looking forward to a great afternoon of FUN and FOOD!!!

Things to bring to Family Fest:

  1. Reusable Water Bottles – As part of our commitment to our Eco-School goals, bottled water will not be sold. Our water bottle filling fountain in the school basement will be accessible during the event.
  2. Picnic blankets or folding chairs – Due to the graduation set up, we will not have access to the usual number of chairs for people to use while eating.

Other Notes:

  1. Skip the line ups! Tickets and wristbands will be sold in the schoolyard before school tomorrow starting at 8:00am.
  2. If you find yourself able to volunteer at the last minute tomorrow, your help will be much appreciated. Speak to someone at the volunteer table and they will let you know where help is needed. If you have volunteer questions email gledhillvolunteer@gmail.com
  3. We have many who have committed to Bake Table items, but our International Table is still in need of savoury finger foods or salads that can be sold at $1 a serving. Last minute contributions are welcome!
  4. Food for the Bake Table and International Food Table can be dropped off at the office in the morning or directly to the tables in the schoolyard at the beginning of Family Fest at 3:20pm. (please note that items needing refrigeration should be dropped off directly to the event after school).

 

Lost and Found – Reminder to claim your items

Have you had something of your child’s go missing over the past few months? Is a better question: How many things have gone missing?

The school Lost and Found is located in the basement hallway. There are large numbers of sweaters, jackets, hats, shoes, boots, lunch bags, lunch containers and water bottles waiting to be found.

All items will be donated to charity on the last day of school, next Thursday June 28th so, this week or next, swing by and have a look.

  1. Yearbook Committee, there will be a special celebration in the library on Thursday. You will be going outside at noon. See you on Thursday!
  2. As you’ve likely noticed, the footprint garden has mostly been planted. Please stay out of the garden to give it a good chance to grow. Also, we are looking for families to sign up to water the gardens throughout the summer. (Please email thegledhillguardian@gmail.com if you are interested)

Volunteer Tea is tomorrow, Wednesday June 20th 2-3pm

Did you volunteer at Gledhill this year? The teachers and administration say thanks each year by hosting a Volunteer Tea.

This year’s Volunteer Tea is tomorrow from 2-3pm in the school library. Whether you received a notice in your child’s backpack or not, if you were a Gledhill volunteer, drop by tomorrow for refreshments and conversation.

2 More Reasons to Come to Family Fest this Friday!

As if the bouncy castles and yummy food weren’t enough – there are two more reasons to attend this year’s Family Fest this Friday:

  1. The Gledhill Clothing Swap. This year, at Family Fest, in the spirit of sharing, kindness, reducing and reusing, Mrs Chitayat’s class is organizing a huge clothing swap! Clothing donations can be dropped off at the main office, up until Thursday, June 21, in clear or blue recycling bags. Then, at Family Fest, all families are invited to take home what their family can use.
  2. Charity Art Auction – In support of Hailey, a student in Room 19, who is battling leukemia and Ryan in Room 26, who recently lost his father in a tragic accident, each classroom at Gledhill will be creating a piece of artwork to be auctioned off during Family Fest on Friday. All proceeds from the Silent Auction will be going towards Hailey and Ryan. Please come out to support this worthy cause!
