Help needed for Family Fest

red-alert-round-icon-hiPlease help! Family Fest is this Friday and only half of the volunteer spots have been filled. This means that we currently do not have enough volunteers to run all of the events.

If no one from your household has volunteered yet please try to sign up for one or more of the one-hour time slots between 3:00 and 7:00. If you have already volunteered for one time slot and are able to help for an additional hour, please do.

If you are not able to help during the fair, we still need finger food for the International and Bake Tables which can be dropped off anytime on the day of the Fair.

Daily Announcements – Friday, June 15th

Highlights from this morning’s announcements:

Read first: “I would like to acknowledge that this school is situated upon traditional territories. The territories include the Wendat, Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of Scugog, Hiawatha, Alderville First Nation and the Métis Nation. The treaty that was signed for this particular parcel of land is collectively referred to as the Williams Treaties of 1923 and applies to lands east of Woodbine Avenue. I also recognize the enduring presence of Aboriginal peoples on this land.”

  1. From Ms. Kopka: A big thank you to all students, parents and staff for supporting our Beguiling book fair. It was a great success and our library gained a number of new graphic novels for all ages. They will become a part of our collection in September. Happy reading everyone!

It takes a VILLAGE – Family Fest needs you!

Thank you to those who have already signed up telling us how they can help out at next Friday’s Family Fest. There are still some crucial gaps that need filling:

  1. Sign up for a shift (or two): This year the shifts are in one hour blocks so you can customize your evening. Have fun with your kids and help out for short time. We need parents to do things like sell food, supervise bouncy castles and help with clean up.
  2. Bring Food: Our International Foods Table needs savoury finger foods and salads that can be sold for $1 a serving.
