Ward Meetings – What are those anyway?

Our next Ward Council Meeting is tomorrow, November 30, 2017:

Location: Gordon A Brown Middle School – 2800 St Clair Avenue East
Time: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

What are Ward Council Meetings?

Trustees are elected to represent specific political entities called wards. Ward council meetings provide an opportunity for parent representatives from schools in the ward to meet with their local school trustee to discuss issues of common concern. Ward council meetings are also an opportunity for the school trustee to inform parents about matters under consideration by the Board and get their feedback. We are in Ward 16 and our trustee is Sheila Cary-Meagher.

Gledhill’s School Council has two parents who have volunteered to regularly attend the Ward Council Meetings and report back to our School Council with a summary of the items discussed, however, any parent is welcome to attend a Ward Council Meeting. It’s an interesting chance to hear what is going on at other schools in our area and participate in discussions on education related issues.

The Agenda for this meeting:

1. Welcome and Introductions
2. School News To Date
3. Superintendents Reports
4. Equity Task Force Report
5. Open Discussion
6. PIAC (Parent Involvement Advisory Committee) Report
7. FSLAC (French as a Second Language Advisory Committee) Report
8. New Business
