School Council Election Results

A big thank you to everyone who attended our first school council meeting! We had a large turnout with many people offering their services to help out the council this year.

Names were put forth for the following council positions and none were contested, so all positions were acclaimed without needing paper ballots:

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25. All parents are voting members of the school council and welcome to attend any meeting. Housekeeping items will be discussed 6-6:30 and main agenda items will begin at 6:30pm. Childcare and snacks will always be provided!

  1. Attention students in Grades 4, 5, and 6! If you are interested in becoming a library helper please pick up an application form outside the library on the trapezoid table. All applications are due back by Thursday, October 6th. Hope to see many of you joining our wonderful team of library volunteers. Ms Kopka
  2. Spirit squad – there will be a meeting in Room 24 at 11:30. Bring your dancing shoes.
  3. Thank you to the co-ed slo=pitch team who represented Gledhill in true GOLD fashion! We are so proud of you and your efforts!
  4. Primary Choir is tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11:45 in Room 18.
  5. The cross country meet at Ashbridge’s bay is Wednesday October 5th
  6. This Thursday Oct 6th is CURRICULUM NIGHT from 6-7pm. Meet the teachers and then, for those interested, come for a family walk for 30 minutes afterwards.
  7. NO SCHOOL: This Friday October 7th is a PA DAY and Monday is the Thanksgiving Holiday.

  2. Staff, if you want to take your class to cheer on our players, you are welcome to do so.

International Walk to School Day

Join us as Gledhill tries to get all of its students to walk to school on Wednesday, October 5th in celebration of International Walk to School Day. Get up a little earlier that morning, arrange to meet your neighbours and walk together to school!

  1. Mrs Bailey is placing the recorder order tomorrow. All grade 3 to 6 students should have their recorder in the music room or their order placed absolutely no later than tomorrow!
  2. Slo-pitch team meeting in the gym at noon
  3. We will be using the north gym for photos today. Please line up tallest to shortest.

Universal Screening Process for Grade 3 Students

Looking for more info on the Universal Screening Process for Grade 3 Students going on at Gledhill this week?

Effective September 2016, the Toronto District School Board introduced a universal screening process for all Grade 3 students across the board. The purpose of this universal screening test is to:

  • Provide information to classroom teachers about the strengths and learning needs of each student in order to better support teachers in programming for students
  • Help teachers to know when to bring a student forward to In School Team (IST) or School Support Team (SST) for programming suggestions
  • Improve equity of access for all students to differentiated programming including the potential identification of students with a gifted exceptionality

  5. Friday, September 30th is orange shirt day.
