What’s Coming Up at Gledhill?

Hello Gledhill families!

We will be having a slight change to the format of emails being sent to you from “The Gledhill Guardian” starting today!  On Mondays you will receive an email with “What’s Coming Up at Gledhill?”.  On Fridays, you will receive a summary of announcements that the students have heard throughout the week!

Of course, if something important like a special event or a volunteer call-out needs to be done, you may get an additional email with information specific to that!  Thanks for all your support!

What’s coming up?

  • Monday November 25th – Character Education Assembly ” Empathy” at 9am in the gym.  All are welcome to attend!
  • Friday November 29th- Pizza Lunch for those who have pre-ordered in grades 1-5
  • Saturday November 30th- Last day for families of Grades 1-5 students to place Pizza Lunch orders for the 2019/20 school year
  • Saturday November 30th @ 130pm – Marlies Game at Scotiabank arena for those with tickets
  • Friday December 6th- PA DAY.  No school today!
  • Thursday December 12th- Winter Concert- 930am and 1pm in the school gym.
    • Grade 1-5 concert at 930am.  Classrooms participating: Rooms 6, 8, 18, 21, 22, 26, 27 and 28.  Also students in Primary Choir, Primary Ukulele Kids and Strings
    • Kindergarten Concert at 1pm.  All kindergarten classes and the kindergarten “Ukulele Kids” group381B06A1-E474-405C-BA7E-69AF3E4A572C

  • Today is Wednesday November 20th and it is Day 4 in our schedule.  Our character theme for November is Empathy and here is something to think about.  “The path to gaining respect is paved with knowledge and empathy.” – Evan Brown

  • Wow!  We had so many visitors to our Arctic Adventure book fair where there is SNOW much to read.  Thank you to all students, parents and staff for supporting this important event!  The book fair runs until Thursday November 21.  That’s tomorrow!  You have 1 more shopping day left.  It is open from 830-1130.  The book fair will be closed at recess.  And now drumroll!  The winner of the Scholastic Book Fair is ____ from Rm 3 and their teacher!  Congratulations!

Location: Gledhill School Library, 2nd Floor

ALL Parents and Guardians are welcome to attend all or part of the meeting and all are considered members of the Council!

Pizza will be served.  Childcare will be provided. If your children are attending, please stay to help clean up the space that they are in when the meeting is over.

2019/20 Pizza Lunch Orders Due November 30th

To all Gledhill families with children in Grades 1-5:

Please note that if you are intrested in purchasing pizza lunches for your child but have not done so, November 30th will be the final day for ALL pizza lunches for the year. You will NOT be able to order online after that date. So please place you orders for the year. Note you will NOT be able to place any pizza lunch orders after November 30th. Thank you.

If there are any Gledhill families with students in Grades 1-5 who are unable to participate in pizza lunches due to financial constraints, please send in a note to your child’s teacher or get in touch with the pizza lunch committee at GSCPizza@gmail.com. There are funds available to support you!

MOVIE NIGHT – Friday November 22nd

Gledhill Families, please join us in the gym on Friday November 22nd for the showing of “Rise of the Guardians”.  Doors open at 6pm and the movie begins at 630pm.  Entrance is $1 per person.  Pizza, veggies sticks and popcorn available for purchase!

Gledhill Pizza Lunch Volunteers Needed!!

Gledhill’s first pizza lunch for Grades 1-5 is coming up soon – Friday, Nov. 29 – and we are looking for volunteers!
Helping with pizza lunch is fun, fast, and easy.  You sign in at the office at 11:20, head downstairs near the gym, hand out pizza, have a slice yourself and leave by 12:15 at the latest (unless you want to stick around and chat!).
