“I would like to acknowledge that this school is situated upon traditional territories. The territories include the Wendat, Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of Scugog, Hiawatha, Alderville First Nation and the Métis Nation. The treaty that was signed for this particular parcel of land is collectively referred to as the Williams Treaties of 1923 and applies to lands east of Woodbine Avenue. I also recognize the enduring presence of Aboriginal peoples on this land.”

1. All those who signed up for DISNEY SPRING CONCERT decoration committee are invited to come today with their lunch and start making decorations!
2. Eco-Club message – This Saturday is World Bird Migration Day! Have you seen birds coming back from their winter feeding grounds? You might see a Northern Waterthrush or a Yellow-Rumped Warbler. Keep a look out, it’s that time of year when you might see a bird you’ve never seen before.

3. Eco-Club – Last week the used batteries were picked up and Gledhill recycled 160 kg of used batteries. AMAZING! Thanks for keeping those chemicals out of our water and soil.
4. Ramadam (Islam)Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is referred to in the Qu’ran (Koran) as a blessed month in which the teachings of the Qu’ran were revealed to the prophet Muhammad. During Ramadan, most Muslims fast during the hours of daylight and also increase their focus on prayer and contemplation. At the end of each day, the fast is traditionally broken with a prayer and a light meal called the iftar.

   Ramadan is considered a time for Muslims to recommit themselves to practicing compassion and generosity for others, as well as a time to cultivate spiritual renewal both within themselves and their communities.

• Today, Tuesday, April 30 – French Book Fair – 8:30am -5:30pm in the library – hosted by Children’s French Book Corner. Students can visit and purchase books with their class or with parents before or after school.
