2. Mandatory Choir practice today at 11:45. We will be introducing our final song!
3. Friday is our Sports Spirit Day! Wear something that shows your love of sports, your favourite team colours or logo. Go Team Gledhill!
4. At the Grade 5 City Ball Hockey Ghampionships yesterday, our team did exceptionally well! They won their semi-final game and ended up losing in the finals. This means our Tigers came second in all of Toronto!!! This is a very big deal! Very proud of all my athletes. Pizza party Friday! Meet Mr. Webb at 11:30 outside the gym office.

If you are helping out with Spring cleaning at home or elsewhere please remember that used batteries can be dropped off in the large steel drum near the main entrance of the school at anytime. Let’s make sure battery chemicals are dealt with properly! Thanks for listening.

1. Attention students in grades 4, 5 and 6! If you are interested in joining this year’s yearbook committee, please come to the library for a brief meeting this morning at recess. Bring your outdoor gear as you will be going outside. Ms. Kopka
2. Congratulations A, C and E in Rm 26 and L in Rm 17 who knew the new phrase in O Canada that replaces “all thy son’s command” is “all of us command. Please see Ms. Bailey for your prize. The new question is now posted in the music room and will be up for two weeks.

1. A huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of or has supported the various fundraisers for our special schoolmate Hailey! The Hearts for Hailey, Light Up The Night for Hailey, staff led baked goods or special artistic contributions from Z and J in Rm 24 raised just over $1000 over the past two weeks. Your generosity is much appreciated!
2. Mrs. Pace needs to see any grade 6 boys who are interested in participating in the slow pitch team. Please come to the gym at morning recess UNLESS it’s raining. Thank you!
3. Dear Gledhill – A few environmental reminders:

• Used batteries will continue to be collected for recycling through the year in the containers near the office. They can be dropped off anytime!
• Used pens and markers can be dropped off in the box beside the battery bin so they can be recycled!

1. Two messages from the Eco-Club: Hi! Eco Club members are concerned about the impact of garbage on animals and plants. As you already know, 2 weeks ago we conducted a waste audit in the Lunch Room. We noticed a significant number of metallic wrappers being used by our students. As you know, metallic wrappers are man made items. They are not recyclable. They are litter and it takes about 80 years for them to decompose in our land fills. This is an extremely long time considering how quickly their content was consumed! So, think of alternative choices such as baking with your parents and packing your baked goods in reusable containers. Have fun baking with your parents!
2. Also, Gledhill, did you know there is a Great Canadian Backyard Bird Count going on this week? Citizens like you and me can keep track of the types of birds we see and how many and report it to the Audubon Society. It’s called citizen science when we volunteer some of our time to share our observations. Find out more HERE
3. Junior Choir is today – Students, Mrs Bailey will pick up from lunchrooms at 11:45.

1. Our grade 6 co-ed ball hockey team played their quarter final match this week against Cosburn. They fought hard but came up just short. Making the top 8 in all the south is a big achievement. It has been an amazing year. (Mr Webb)
2. Congratulations to J in Rm 26, A in Rm 19, A in Rm 20 and A in Rm 26 who knew several song titles that had the word LOVE in it. Please see Mrs. Bailey for your prize. There were so many great entries! Thank you!
3. A huge thank you from Hailey for all the pink and red hearts full of thoughtful messages and the generous gifts! She is grateful and sends her thanks.

1. A huge thank you and congratulations to all Gledhill staff and students for participating in Gledhill’s very own Winter Olympics on Monday. We are ready to cheer on Canada together! (Mrs. Pace)
2. A huge thank you to Mrs. Pace  for organizing such a fun afternoon yesterday. Only 2 more days until the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.
3. Free Hearts for Hailey and other Valentines will be on sale today at morning recess outside the music room.
4. Boys basketball tournament is tomorrow all day at Gledhill.
5. Attention Daycare students going to today’s field trip. Please check your backpacks to make sure you have a lunch or pick up a lunch from your daycare lunchroom before the trip.
6. Girls Volleyball – Thursday’s practice is CANCELLED. Next practice is Friday morning at 7:45am.

1. Today is the first day of our fundraiser “Hearts for Hailey”. Please come buy your Valentines outside the music room at morning recess. Teacher volunteers are asked to come as quickly as they can. Thank you for your support!
2. Hey everyone! Wednesday is Winter Walk to School Day. If you don’t already walk to school each day, talk to your parents to find out if you can walk to school on Wednesday. Maybe you can arrange to meet some friends along the way and enjoy some fresh air together!
3. Today is Olympics Day! Teachers, please refer to the schedule. Have a great afternoon!
4. Folkfest is at lunch today. Please bring all of your things to go outside. A teacher will pick you up from the lunchroom or daycare at 12:00.
